Duenotic Profile: Katy Ross

TL;DR: Katy Ross was one of those child celebrity Duetines, mastering Telekinesis and writing spells at a really young age. But Katy Ross was murdered, and no one knows who did it, or how it was done. Truth is, the people in charge don’t want to know. So they probably made all the records disappear to pretend like she just sort of faded out of existence.

Addendum on the subject of Katy Ross:

Katy Ross is another anomaly in the Shardic records. Much like her training partner Chelsea Caldwell-Watson, little seems to have survived regarding Ross’ career with the Shardic Order, though she was well remembered to have been rather popular during the 8590s. First for her having been a Ross, (I imagine, Duenotic pioneer and all that), but second for her having been exceptionally gifted in Telekinesis, (which is also arguably a result of her being a Ross). In fact, she is most known in the Duenotic world for having written a charm called a Dyoss Stone, which would simulate rematerialisation of a living being by moving a body almost instantaneously through space. Urban legend is she only wrote it to protect a friend who had been often bullied.

Most will remember the beautiful Katy Ross having been a particular favourite of acting Master Lee Young. Rumours had been that he had sent her on all sorts of secret missions, none of which are documented in Shardic record (or have since been lost from the same). Of course, the lack of records could have some part to do with her having resigned at a fairly young age in 8596. And yet, correspondence records show that she was present in Warst during the Stoney Creek Road Shooting.

In 8599, the groundskeeper at Black Mansion discovered Ross murdered on the banks of Kalsey River some distance from the Mansion, shot between the eyes. Ross’ gruesome murder was never solved, and became quite troubling to the Duenotic Council, since any upstanding Duetine should have easily been able to prevent such an act, let alone a Master of Telekinesis as Ross had been. Fearing Magick’s change of heart toward the Pnauserians, the Duenotic Council famously distanced themselves from the Ross-Curzon case. It is widely speculated that the Council’s fear triggered the archiving of numerous Duenotic and Shardic records, during which many records were lost, likely including those documenting Ross’ accomplishments at both the Order and with the Council.
